As I listened to pre-schoolers say what they wanted to be when they grow up, it made me think...why do we put so much emphasis on not forcing individuals to do or achieve something?
I get it.
But before you say, "well, they're young; they may change their minds," the youngins can be guided to do well and progressively questioned if they still have an interest. I'd like to call it positive force.
Not reinforce.
Positive force. Guided force.
Your child wants to be lawyer? Show them a court. Show them details bout a law school. Show them a movie or show with a courtroom scene.
Your child wants to be a pro athlete? Take him or her to a game. Take them your child to the gym. Play with your child and compete. Focus on doing well in the classroom and outside the classroom.
I can go on and on.
But, it's healthy to show positive force without upsetting a child. They might have an interest in another subject but keep the same energy.
Have at it, kids!
