September 2009

  • New Face, New Format
  • Challenge
  • Et Al.

New Face, New Format
The new face and format will be in a pdf-type file. However, for anyone who cannot open a pdf file the normal bulleted-email format will still be available although you may not be able to see the pictures. The newsletter will also include an introduction to each section (7 to 8 in all) that will be included in every issue. The sections include the following:

The Older Adult

This section is devoted to the older adult. Individuals who are 65 years of age and older, retired or not retired can benefit from information in this category. In this segment, the older adult will find information on general fitness, TEEM Adult Fitness Cohorts, wellness challenges, and more.

The Parent

This section is devoted to parents. Since parents can often be categorized as busy professionals, there will be some overlap with the subsequent section. Parents, in addition to their professions, have to deal with toddlers, children, teens, young adults, and sometimes their own parents. In this section, the parent will find information on general fitness, TEEM Adult Fitness Cohorts, TEEM speed camps for their kids, wellness challenges, and more.

The Busy Professional

This section relates to all busy professionals. These individuals, and the largest demographic, may find it easy or difficult to incorporate fitness into their lifestyles as they juggle their full agendas. In this section, the busy professional will find ways that fitness can be incorporated into their already busy lives, general fitness information, TEEM Adult Fitness Cohorts, wellness challenges, and more.

The Student

This section relates primarily to students young and old. The student may also be a working professional, increasing his or her responsibilities. In this section, the student, whether in middle school, high school, college, and graduate or professional school can find general fitness information, playground play, wellness challenges, TEEM Student Fitness Cohorts, and more.

The Student-Athlete

This section relates primarily to student-athletes who manage their lives as a student first and an athlete second. Generally, the middle school and high school student-athlete of any sport are emphasized in this section, but the college student-athlete is also included. In this segment, student-athletes can find information on TEEM speed-camps and TEEM mini-camps, off-season, pre-season, in-season, and post-season tips and training regimes, wellness challenges, and more.

Open Forum

The ‘Open Forum’ section gives you the opportunity to see the feedback you give and things that you want posted. Everything is not posted, but most feedback is posted. ‘Open Forum’ also displays individual accomplishments and acknowledgments, latest news, calendar, opinions, and profiles.

Back-To-The-Future

'Back-To-The-Future’ brings back past topics to the forefront, so everything is not lost after you have read it! This section does not appear in every HAHPN issue.

Archives

The ‘Archives’ section gives you the chance to read past HAHPN newsletters. Go back in time!

THAT'S IT.

Challenge: TV Set-up

So, how did it turn out for you? Did you really change your TV set-up to find out that you can get more things accomplished? Did you turn if off before you went to sleep or while at the dinner table and realized how much conversation you could get in with your spouse, significant other, or kids? When you got bored, did you go for a walk or get another errand done instead of turning on your favorite channel? OK, last one. I promise. Did you purchase a new TV in time for the fall sports season and realized "Man, I love HD!"

Et Al.

If you did not notice, July did not have an e-newsletter due to the changes that were being made. Therefore, September will have two issues - the second September issue will be HAHPN's exclusive declaration. Yes, we're getting serious; it's not just a blog. OK, some of it will still be 'bloggish' if that is a word.

If you are new to the list, welcome and I look forward to your enjoyment. Yes, YOUR enjoyment.

Use What Has Been Given,

Derek
