10 Items: 10 Pump Up Songs for a Run

You could listen to any song while you sprint, run for distance, or mix up your running routine. Some of us can run without music. Others need it. If you run in an indoor class, then you may hear a mix of songs. With this list below, which is not a ranking, I tried to give you some songs that you would not expect to be on a running playlist:

1) Lose Yourself  by Eminem - C'mon now...you know this song is one of the best for any type of workout. So, add it to your run...any type of run.

2) Gonna Fly Now (Rocky Theme Song) by Bill Conti - The theme of running. Go watch the first Rocky movie and find out. You know you want other people following you in the definition of inspire and influence.

3) Sabotage by The Beastie Boys - Pssh! You could play this one for a series of sprints or put it somewhere on a long run playlist.

4) Spottieottiedopaliscious Angel by Outkast - Yea, you didn't expect that one. But, go ahead and serve yourself a long run with this song on the playlist.

5) Tell The World by Lecrae feat. Mali Music - You get that renewed confidence when you run, wanting everyone to look at you because you're a billboard, right?

6) Little Drummer Boy by Various Artists - What a Christmas song for a run? Yes. Why not? The beats and individual artistic work in the three best versions of this song as sung by The Temptations, Pentatonix, and King & Country will have you pumped to run with some intensity!

7) Numb/Encore by Jay-Z - Rap songs are creative because you can add them to any type of workout. But, most people link them to strength workouts. Try Encore on a sprint, home stretch sprint, or during a distance jaunt.

8) Don't Stop Me Now by Queen - Ohhh, you thought I was going to add We Are The Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, or We Will Rock You, didn't you? You can add them because those songs work. Don't Stop Me Now...add that to a distance run.

9) Movin' On Up by Ja'Net DuBois - You have heard it as the theme song to The Jeffersons, the 1970s and 80s sitcom. You should hear the remix called Whoa Now by B-Rich.

10) Crazy in Love by Beyonce - Can't forget a song by Bey. Go ahead and put that song on your playlist.

So, how many are on your list?

Much success to you | Derek | @teemptraining | derekteempt@gmail.com
