See the Gift Before the Chime

I like this topic, especially since I enjoy coaching.

Many individuals are aware that Deion Sanders, the Hall of Fame NFLer and former head coach of Jackson State football, is now the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.

But, his work at JSU is not done because they playing in the Celebration Bowl on Saturday, December 17th.

Coach Prime, as he is known, improved the Jackson State football program and brought more attention to HBCU football.

So, what's the fuss with his move to Boulder, Colorado?

Coaches leave institutions all of the time. In fact, some fan favorites are forced to move on. Well...someone will stay mad in these dfferent scenarios, right?

The public is always fast to scrutinize moves. With social media, the access and quickness to scrutinize is greater than in the past. Post anything controversial and opinions fly. Self-conclusions amount. Self-proclaimed lawyers and doctors swell.

What is missing and what did the public, especially social media, not jump on or wait on? Individuals who expressed extreme disappointment in Coach Prime's move to Colorado missed the example of leadership.

You missed it.

You missed the winning appetite that he helped thread into Jackson State football. You missed the lessons that his staff may have learned. You missed the camaraderie that ensued when he announced the new head coach, Coach T.C. Taylor, who was the wide receiver's coach.

You missed it.

You missed teamanship and wanted to put sand on a fire when the fire still burns.

You missed it.

So, what now? Keep the gift going at Jackson State. Coach Prime had a large impact in Jackson, MS; but now the shift will happen in Boulder, Colorado. JSU fans should continue to want success. Colorado fans should expect success. But, hold the chime-ins that make you lose sleep because you're disappointed in Coach Prime.

Don't miss out on a gift. Give back to it.

Much success to you | Derek | @teemptraining | derekteempt@gmail.com
